Biometric Notice
Please review the below information before providing your consent for Intercheck Global Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Certn, trading as Intercheck Australia and Certn (“Intercheck”) to process your Biometric Data.
“Biometric Data” is personal information resulting from specific technical processing relating to the physical, physiological or behavioral characteristics which allow or confirm the unique identification of that natural person.
Why do you need my biometric data?
As part of the remote background screening services we provide to our customers, we collect your Biometric Data to (i) remotely verify your identity, notably, in accordance with undertaking a Nationally Coordinated Criminal history check and (ii) prevent and combat fraud.
How does it work?
We will ask you to scan a copy of your government-issued ID, and take a selfie using your mobile device or laptop. We use an AI algorithm to measure certain features of your face in both your ID photo and your selfie, and compare them to one another to confirm the person completing background screening matches the person on the ID. This helps us combat fraud, and ensures we are providing accurate information to our customers.
Who will have access to my Biometric Data?
Except where required by law, your Biometric Data is accessible only to us and our service providers who require access to Biometric Data to help us provide our Services. We do not share Biometric Data with any other third parties. That said, we may provide certain information about you to the customer on whose behalf we are performing the background check, along with the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission that administers the National Police Checking Service. This could include copies of the ID document and photo you provided us, and confirmation that we were or were not able to verify your identity.
Intercheck does not sell, lease, trade or otherwise profit from your Biometric Data.
How will you protect my Biometric Data?
The Company uses industry standard security safeguards to store and protect your Biometric Data, in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Unless required by law, once your identity has been verified, we will delete your biometric data from our systems within 30 days. If your Biometric Data is collected to undertake a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, we will retain the data for at least 12 months, but for no more than 15 months. The location of Biometric Data storage is in Australia.
What are my rights?
You may choose not to consent to the processing of your Biometric Data. If you choose not to consent to biometric identity verification, we may not be able to process your application or provide verification results to our customers. Nonetheless, whenever feasible and with our client’s approval, we will make reasonable efforts to offer appropriate alternatives for you.
You can also:
- revoke your consent to the processing of your Biometric Data,
